Target Beneficiaries
Persatuan DAYBREAK’S two-year, non-residential Vocational Training Programme is provided without any charge for Persons with Disabilities aged between 16 and 40 years. Since 1992, we have trained almost a thousand disabled persons.
Our trainees have learning disabilities arising from Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder and similar conditions.
Upon completion of this Programme, we provide a Supported Employment Programme to find suitable employment for trainees. We have a Job Coach to liaise with employers who are willing to provide jobs to our trainees. We currently have 9 trainees placed with various employers in and around Ipoh.
Funds’ Utilisation Plan
The funds raised will be used to meet our operating expenses such as utilities, staff costs, repairs and maintenance and other overheads. The average cost per trainee is RM10,000 per year.
Persatuan DAYBREAK is largely dependent on public donations. The average cost per trainee is RM10,000 per year. The MCO has significantly reduced the number and amount of donations since March 2020.
Risk & Challenges
We target an increase in the number of our trainees from 41 to 50 persons before the end of 2021. To be able to do this, our priority will be to recruit a second Occupational Therapist to join the present team of 6 training staff, if we have the means.
Campaign Description
This campaign will significantly widen our outreach to persons of goodwill who are prepared to support our efforts to give meaning to our name “DAYBREAK”, an acronym for: Disabled Adults and Youths Being Rewarded, Encouraged and Accepted in Kinta.
