Common FAQ
1. Why should I take collagen?
As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity. By taking external collagen, we are able to replenish our stores and thus reduce/delay signs of aging (wrinkles, fine lines, gray hair).
2. How long will it take to see results/ improvements?
There may be slight differences depending on the individual, but generally, results can be seen in as soon as 1 month, but may take up to 3 months for some! For younger people, the changes may not be as noticeable because younger people generally have more collagen and less wrinkles in comparison.
3. When is the best time to consume Beautilicious?
You can consume this anytime of the day, but we suggest having it as breakfast! Because vitamin B and CoQ10 helps with energy production, some people may find that it disturbs their sleep if they consume it later in the day. Therefore, for these groups of people, we suggest consuming this in the morning.
4. Do I need to worry about heavy metal contamination and radioactivity?
Not to worry! Our product batches go through regular independent lab testing to check for heavy metals and radioactivity.
5. Will this reverse graying hair?
In the case of premature graying of hair or if graying is caused by nutrient deficiency, Beautilicious replenishes these nutrients, thus reversing premature graying hair. From a TCM perspective, the black coloured ingredients in Beautilicious may also contribute to black and healthy hair by replenishing kidney ‘qi’ or ‘essence’.
6. Can I mix Beautilicious with other beverages?
Yes. It can be mixed with other beverages like cocoa powder, soy protein, etc.
7. Can I drink this if I have diabetes?
Yes. The recommended carbohydrate intake for a patient with diabetes is 14g - 34g per meal, and one serving of Premium Pure Beautylicious contains 16.1g of carbohydrate, which is about 1 unit of carbohydrate. Thus, it is suitable for patients with diabetes to consume. Besides that, Premium Pure Beautylicious is high in dietary fibre and protein which helps with blood glucose management.
8. Can I take this if I have high uric acid or gout?
During an active gout flare, it may be beneficial to stop consumption of this product (reduce purine foods as well) until symptoms improve. Then, you may continue consuming as directed.
9. Who should take note when consuming this product?
As the source of collagen is from fish, Beautilicious is not suitable for people with a fish allergy and those practising vegetarianism and veganism.
We also do not suggest children under the age of 12 to consume Beautilicious, as the content of vitamin Bs are well above the reference ranges for their age. They may try the other two products in our range, Plant Omega and Drinking Salad!
If you have Chronic Kidney Disease, it would be best to seek professional advice from your healthcare provider. This is because this product may contain too much protein and potassium, which may burden the kidneys. Some patients are given fluid restrictions and it is good to note that this product contributes to that as it is a fluid.
10. How do I store Beautilicious?
It is best stored in a cool place, away from sunlight. Best consumed within 2 months of opening.
11. Can I prepare Beautilicious with hot water?
Although our collagen can withstand high temperatures, we recommend preparing it with at most lukewarm water. This is mainly because the nutrients in the wholegrains may be destroyed at high temperatures.
12. Will collagen consumption cause breast cancer?
According to The Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand, there is no evidence directly associating collagen consumption with risk of breast cancer. “Studies around collagen in breast cancer are not conclusive. It does seem that cancer cells might spread through the collagen fibres that occur naturally within the breast. However, there is no evidence that dietary collagen supplements have any link to cancer – but this could be because widespread use of collagen supplements is relatively new and the studies haven’t been done yet. The studies that have been completed have looked at the potential for dietary collagen to reach the skin. It does generally seem that dietary collagen can indeed reach the skin, and that’s why it seems to work nicely for some people from an anti-ageing perspective. There’s also some evidence that collagen supplements can relieve joint pain or help prevent osteoporosis, so it may therefore reach the bone / joints as well. That doesn’t necessarily mean it would reach the breast tissue or do anything significant (either helpful or harmful) when it gets there.”
13. Will collagen consumption cause cysts to grow?
There is no direct association between collagen consumption and cysts. However, if you have concerns, it is always best to go back to your primary doctor as they would know your condition the best.
14. CoQ10 & Collagen Synergistic Effect When consumed together, there seems to be several beneficial effects on skin, as it improved dermis density, reduced measured periorbital wrinkle area as well as total wrinkle score (TWS) and improved skin smoothness.
15. Is 5000mg of collagen sufficient to see benefits?
There is evidence that 2.5g (2500mg) of collagen is effective to reduce skin wrinkles and improve skin elasticity. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24401291/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23949208/ 16. What type of collagen are we using? We use hydrolysed collagen peptides, which is a group of peptides (‘building block of proteins’) with low molecular weight (<3 kilodaltons) for improved absorption by the body. 17. Pregnancy – safe to consume? We would suggest consulting your obstetrician to review current intake and supplementations to avoid overconsumption. 18. Do I still need to take vitamin B supplementation if I am already consuming Beautilicious? As Beautilicious already has the daily recommended intake of vitamin Bs, you may not need additional vitamin B supplementation. However, if it is prescribed by your doctor, it is always best to go back to them to confirm.
