Product Description
A mixture of fresh mints including peppermint give this mint drink a warming and invigorating taste without overpowering the taste buds, a refreshing pick me up.
Tasting Notes: the grassy fresh mint subtlety makes its way to the nose with just a hint of fruit. On drinking its takes few seconds for the mint to build on the palette, gently warming, then cleansing before finishing at the back of the throat. A taste that grows and refreshes then leaves as gently as it came.
Ingredients explained
Building the flavours
Our master tea blenders use a combination of brewed tea, fruits, and herbs (called infusions on the ingredients list) combined with a mixture of real fruit juice and natural flavours to create Teapress essences. The ‘essences’ are concentrated infusions, which means you only need to add a little to get a lot of flavour. Depending on the variant other ingredients are added to build the taste and complexity of the flavor profile, such as rose hip syrup, licorice, and spices.
Sometimes we also add acidic notes to further enhance or balance out the flavour, such as tartaric acid. Tartaric acid which is often found in grapes and is the commonly sourced from the spent yeast at the bottom of wine barrels - we reuse and minimize waste where possible!
The natural flavour in the black and green teas is ‘tea’! We use a centrifuge separate all the tastiest notes from the brewed tea, then add them into our essence to enhance the flavour, so you get the best tasting tea possible.
Keeping it all together
When you blend up a smoothie and then leave it for a while, it can start to separate, the heavier juices sinking and lighter ones floating to the top. We want our infusions to all stay infused together so we use natural stabilisers. Guar gum and carob bean are plant based stabilisers, they don’t affect the taste, but do keep everything mixed together.
If a fine wine has been in the cellared too long its taste profile can change from great to not so great. Our teas are just like a fine wine (without the alcohol!) and depending on the combinations of ingredients the taste profile can slowly change over time. To prevent that happening we use natural acidity regulators such as citric acid (from citrus fruits) or vitamin C (yep, the same one that is reputed to help with a cold) to prevent the degradation of the flavour, so it’s the same from the first sip to the last.
