What we leave out
Performance
Formulated from plant-based ingredients and independently tested to ensure excellent results and an effective clean, while minimising environmental impact.
New Front Loaders
You may need to run an empty first cycle in your machine with a dose of detergent. Our Laundry Liquid is not suitable for this first cycle. It contains eco-surfactants which are naturally high foaming (having clothes in your wash helps to reduce this foam). We suggest using our Laundry Powder for the first wash.
Recycled And Sugar Plastic
Our bottles contain a mix of sugar plastic (a renewable, recyclable plastic that captures CO2 as it grows) and locally sourced recycled plastic. Note: our bulk containers (5L) are standard HDPE plastic.
Safer for Our Environment
Approved by NZ's premier eco-labelling authority Environmental Choice (Licence No. 5819160). This is your guarantee that we are committed to environmental leadership and that these products are less harmful to the environment. With proper greywater systems in place, the water from your laundry can safely be re-used on your flower gardens, lawns and trees. Suitable for septic tanks.
Sustainable Manufacturing
Our Eucalyptus Laundry Liquid is made in NZ to the strictest environmental standards in our ISO 14001:2015, Toitu enviromark diamond and Toitu net carbonzero certified factory.
Directions for Use
Standard load (1 cap) = 35ml. Large load (1½ caps) = 52.5ml. Handwash (½ cap) = 17.5ml. Machine washing: add 1 to 1½ capfuls to the detergent dispenser and set to your preferred cycle. Hand washing or soaking: add ½ a cap to warm water and rub a small amount directly onto stains. Use with ecostore Fabric Softener to keep clothes soft and gentle on skin. If very dirty, soak clothes overnight or use ecostore Laundry Soaker & Stain Remover. Always check clothing instructions and test colour fastness. Do not soak zips or metal buttons. All detergents have an effect on the environment. Always use the correct dose for maximum efficiency and minimum environmental impact. Recommended washes per pack: 500ml = 14 washes, 1L = 28 washes, 2L = 56 washes, 5L = 140 washes, 20L = 560 washes.

KINDER TO THE PLANET
From ingredient sourcing to our own Toitū net carbonzero certified factory and renewable sugar plastic packaging, we’re kinder to the planet at every step – and constantly improving our processes to save energy and resources, and reduce waste. We choose biodegradable plant and mineral-based ingredients over petrochemicals. Each product is also compatible with septic tanks and greywater systems.
CRUELTY FREE
Our products proudly carry the logo of the world’s largest animal rights organisation, PETA. We’ve signed their statement of assurance verifying that we do not conduct or commission any animal testing on our ingredients, formulations, or finished products and pledge not to do so in the future. Instead, we carry out extensive in-house testing and large-scale consumer testing of our products to make sure our customers love them as much as we do.
In China, where animal testing for some cosmetics products is required, all of our affected body care products are sold online. This means we’re not required to test on animals – these body care products won’t be available in physical stores in mainland China as long as animal testing is required there. We will not change our stance on animal testing for sales.
GE / GMO FREE
None of our plant-based ingredients come from genetically modified crops such as corn or soy. While we’re against GE field trials, we agree with many organisations that there’s a place for the ethical development of GE in laboratories, for producing medicines like insulin, or useful enzymes. The enzymes used in our dishwasher powders, dish tablets and laundry products are derived from genetically engineered micro-organisms. Many eco products use enzymes made this way because there are simply not enough naturally occurring enzymes to fill the demand.
